One way to save money in these tough times is to avoid driving to the grocery store at all.
And in our wallet watch, we have been getting some great ideas from our viewers.
Like this victory garden idea from Jean who says turn your back yard into a vegetable garden. The family has five planter boxes where she grows things like lettuce, peas, spinach, radishes and other crops. She grows it all from inexpensive seeds and stores her harvest in special “Green Bags” that prolong freshness. They are more expensive than plastic bags but they can keep your vegetables fresh for much longer.
She has a large container to catch rainwater from the roof. That of course means when it comes time to water the crops, she uses that water and saves lots on her water bill each month.
Great ideas! Thanks Jean. Let us know your ideas and we’ll try to put them on the air too.
